Hi Kathy,
Here is a picture of items we will be taking to the 7th Annual Troops in the Spotlight tomorrow. Quoting from the Barnstable Patriot (http://www.barnstablepatriot.com/home2/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24928&Itemid=30) “What started seven years ago as an idea by a then-12-year-old Brewster resident has become the largest Memorial Day event in New England” (excluding parades) This young man has continued to work year round having sent over 10,000 packages to deployed service personnel through his organization Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops (http://www.capecod4thetroops.com/).
In front of the items notice the papers which are “greetings” Tina, my 33-year old special needs daughter and primo shopping assistant, drew and wrote this past week. My husband joined in by helping affix mini “thank you” stickers I designed to EVERY item we are donating. Paying it forward is a contagious family affair!
This second picture is items donated to A Baby Center (http://www.ababycenter.org/) in Hyannis. I paid nothing out of pocket for any of these items! We don’t have pictures of items Tina and I put in the collection containers at grocery stores, or the two bags she set out for the Postal Carriers annual food drive.
As for feeling good, I think I said it all in the forum back on February 25th (https://www.howtoshopforfree.net/forum/rite-aid-chat-room/feel-good-ra-day/). Living on a fixed income has been difficult financially but has taken its toll emotionally as well. In years gone by, my husband and I had loved to help others but been unable to for several years due to physical and financial limitations. It is hard to describe the elation we feel to once again be able to contribute. I am alive again!
Couponing has been a part of my adult life for some 35 years. In the past 6 months, through you and all the wonderful people in the HTSFF forums I have learned new things. Thank you, Kathy.
