I cannot believe RA already started and wags is considering getting rid of The quintessential couponers deal- BOGO w/ a BOGO q to make it "free…"
*sigh*
What is next? No coupons on sale items?! (my local CVS cashiers told me no more q's on clearance items 2x in the past 2 weeks!!! )

I haven't watched any of these shows. And I refuse to do so! I am also afraid that there may be upcoming changes across the board due to the broadcasting of those shows.

I'm Freewheeln without the "I". I learned HTSFF mostly for the benefit of OTHERS! =) I love to keep paying it forward! ;)

I have mixed feeelings cause this show got me interested in this type of couponing..before I had no clue how to use coupons..however it got me interested cause I wanted free stuff but not the hoarding way the show portrays. The hoarding turns me off. I no longer watch the show as it is ruining it for us who shop the right way with Qs. I fear now that I have learned how to do this we wont be able to anymore cause of all the rule changes.

I agree, I have not seen these shows and I refuse to watch them. It's unfortunate that the people are happy to show off their HUGE HOARD of stockpile. I mean come on an entire wall dedicated to colgate toothpaste? How greedy! Where's the charity? Where's the giving and serving one's community? There are so many people that could use this stuff and yet a woman boasts about having enough cake mix to make a cake for each child on their birthday for 50 years? What about the children that get no birthday cake because it's not in the family budget? GRR makes me fume inside!

Yes that does turn me off big time..even my mom who gives alot to us but not to charilty said the same thing..so the show is turning alot of people off and thus cashiers are being rude when you use Qs cause of the show I think,

Yeah, whenever they get impatient with me I just tell them that it's for the women's shelter or the tornado victims and they seem to be pleased with that.

i have to say, seeing the show along with talking to a few people who coupon got me interested in couponing….
i absolutely LOVE couponing and love getting stuff for next to nothing… but i dont have the space nor desire to dedicate entire rooms to toothpaste or whatever… i've donated extra stuff to food pantry's and also give lots of stuff to friends and family…
it made me so happy the other day when i gave my mom some mascara i got on clearance for 12 cents after Q's and she was like, "i guess i can throw away the stuff i've had for the last 10 years!"
I guess coupons are available to ANYONE – its not like some exclusive club or something… you just have to be willing to put the time and effort into finding the right combinations of sales and coupons to get good deals.
Before I couponed… i paid retail for EVERYTHING and never thought twice about it….
Now, I have a refrigerator that is FULL all the time…. I have makeup that I've paid hardly anything for…. and whenever I might need something like deoderant or toothpaste or toilet paper, etc, i just go in the closet and there it is!
I am happy the show helped me see the value in coupons…. but, i do agree if stores are changing their policies because of that, its just annoying…

fwiw, it was kathy's globe article that got me into it. I agree that it's these shows affecting how the drug stores think, but kathy's desire to market her book certainly isn't helping either. just calling a spade a spade.

If my main desire was only market my book then I WOULD have done TLC's show.
I have ethics and morals and did not want to be portrayed or encouraged in a bad light or as a shellf clearer.
My book is not teaching anyone to hoard I would hope it teaches the exact opposite.

Kathy,
Never fear! Those of us who have followed you for a while (almost a year for me, 6+mos actively) KNOW your intentions. I belong to a "secret group" of over 300 members on FB (common area NOTHING to do with couponing) where the ExC show came up this week. I jumped into the discussion and sang of your virtues – 2 Major Tenets
- Do it legally (honestly)
- Pay it forward
Keep it up. Hopefully we can weather the storm "ExC" is creating both with retailers and consumers. I think someone said many will fall by the wayside when they find out it is work.

I applaud you! "Like" button please
I have always said I totally disagree w/ this show. It's portraying All couponers in the wrong light.
So glad u chose against this show!

I have been couponing for as long as I can remember, I remember going out as a child with my aunt and grandmother and there big envelope of coupns. This show unfortunately has given a bad image to people who are just other there to save some money and provide for there familys in a time of need.
I coupon, not to get FREE stuff, but to provide my family with healthy food at a reduced cost and be able to use that extra money towards other bills. I admit, I do enjoy the feeling I get when I am able to get a weeks worth of groceries that will feed our family of 5 for under 50.00.
The show is very helpful in a way that it opens peoples eyes and shows them it is possible to put food on your familys table with a very limited budget. But I dont like the fact that there are some that gloat that they have 100 cat treats when they dont even own a cat. I shop out of nessesity and just to get something because its free.

I agree that the show is an eye opener for some and I am greatful that it has made people that need help realize they can actually do this and help themself. But know the show is staged. Reality TV isn't always realistic and editing can make things appear to be something they are not. With everything there are the good and the bad and I am glad awareness has been made across the board.
And I am soo prod of all the giving caring and generous members that are part of this group!

Kathy- when you air on tv it is more about all the stuff you have to keep up with your family while remaining a stay-at-home-mom and donating and so forth … I've never watched the show but the clips I've seen seem to be obsessive hoarding with no respect to other shoppers :( Good choice to not join in
Also, I have noticed a great deal of crap from crew at 1 wags…. it's as if their manager watched the show and now Hates couponers! He's even tried refusing to issue me rain checks! and then finally agreed to give me one for 2 packs of diapers (rather than the store policy of 6) because during there last sale I bought about 8 packs of them (I have a toddler!!!)

yes unfortunatley it has turned the stomaches of many people that work at stores but others have been nice..the nice ones so far outweigh the bad so I need to focus on that and not let the jerks get me down. The jerks now think everyone is hoarding..I would call upper management..when you have a baby you go thru alot of diapers a day so that is NOT hoarding..they are losing money cause of rudeness.
