I wrote this article quite a while back for Ehow
http://www.ehow.com/how_549083…..encer.html
To my surprise I was just recently informed that some of our regular hard core members haven’t seen it or still don’t ” get it”.
For those of you that aren’t shopping for free at CVS listen up!
CVS is one of the easiest places to start shopping for free , even if you don’t have any coupons.
I started years ago on the ECB program and since then have only spent pocket change.
I always have a pocket full of ECBS and a house full of health and beauty items that were FREE from CVS.
The key is to roll your ECB’s.
Repeat after me…roll your ECB’s do not spend them on things that don’t earn more ECB”s
Rolling them will turn them into a big giant pile of ECB’s!
My first year ECB’ing I had hundreds of dollars rolled for my 8.00 investment and used that to buy every “as seen on TV” item that they had for my husbands Christmas gifts.
When they say it’s the card that pays you back , they weren’t kidding!

Kathy, you are sooo right! I have not been taking full advantage of this at all! One reason is that I really don't enjoy shopping at my CVS, the clerks are often rude. However, I got one last weekend that actually HELPED me use another coupon!
The Kotex deal is a great find! I have a stock pile of every kind of feminine product imaginable (all gotten for free!). I can't use them anymore, but my daughter just entered this stage of life, so she gets to try everything! We have had to cull our stash for space – sharing with the women's shelter and have also put together "goodie bags" for her 2 best friends when they entered this stage of life. That may sound weird, but they loved being able to try all the different kinds, and my girlfriends were thrilled too!

I live in Arkansas where the nearest CVS is 3 hours away. Does anyone know if it is possible to shop for free with CVS online? Also, how long do the reward bucks last. If they don't expire for several weeks, it might be worthwhile for me to stop in when I am in a town that has one.
Thanks.

They don't take manu. coupons online. They do sometimes email coupons that you can use online for a certain amount off a purchase. I don't think it would be worth it to order online I think you could do better at Walmart or Target if you watch their sales. Do you have any other drug stores close to you?

We have one Wags in town, but it does a terrible job of keeping the promo products in stock. The nearest Target is 40 minutes away. We do have a Wal-mart, K-Mart and a Kroger (only doubles coupons up to .50). We also have a USA drug, but I haven't seen many "almost free' items when I compare their sales to my coupons.
I guess I'll just have to stick with Kroger and start shopping right after midnight or very early Sunday morning.

Please help me with the basics. I have read article and got some questions about it.
1. How can I find out if by buying sertain item I will earn ECB or not? Does it say on a price tag or elsewhere?
2. How can I know if my coupon is manufacturer's or CVS's?
3. I've read that I can get CVS's coupons at their web-site and they send some of them via e-mail. Also there is some coupons on the back side of receipt. But where can I get manufacturer coupons?

1. It will say in the sales ad if it earns a ecb and there should be a tag at the store. Some stores are better at tagging the items than others.
2. If it is a manu coupon it will say it on the top and if it is a cvs coupon it will say cvs coupon or store coupon on the top.
3. The manu. coupons come in the Sunday paper, you can find some in the stores look in every aisle. Ask your friends and neighbors for the coupons that come in the Sunday paper if they aren't going to use them. Some cities have a free newspaper that comes out and has coupons in it.

Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct spot or not. I've checked the forum and did not see these specifics listed. The manager at the CVS store in Somersworth NH mentioned a couple of shopping tips and said I could mention them to the HTSFF group. Whoever is responsible for the CVS posts may want to double-check this with their contact.
The ECBs were always accepted up to 30 days past their expiration date but now for a temporary time, they wil be accepted up to 6 months past their expiration date. I asked how "temporary" this is and she did not know. She felt it would be for a substantial period of time.
Also, CVS accepts Rite Aid coupons on purchases.
This fact (I believe) is standard, the weekly deals which begin on Sunday are posted in the store on Saturdays. As soon as they are posted, the deal is in effect. So you'd be able to buy the sale item on Saturday at the Sunday price. She said to be sure and watch the items ring in, sometimes they are not updated yet in the computer.

ECB's being accepted past their expiration date varies. I know that my local stores will, but I also know a few other HTSFFers have been told no more than 3 days expired, or no expired ones at all. Check with your local store to be sure.
My CVS will not accept Rite Aid coupons, YMMV on that one!
The next week sales are usually posted by Saturday 6pm (in the computer et al). My CVS will price adjust an item on next weeks sale as soon as they have the signs posted. However, YMMV on that, so I recommend waiting until after 6pm if you want to shop both week sales. Keep in mind that when an item is on sale both weeks, the better price is usually the one that rings up (especially important if you want to use a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale). I have used both weeks sales to my advantage when I have a $/$$ coupon.

I think you will find that most CVS stores won't take expired or rite aid copons . Where I shop some take their own expired coupons for 2 weeks after the date and some don't take them at all and they don't take rite aid coupons. The store you are talking about is brand new and just opened so I wonder if it is because they are trying to build their business.
