I am interested in finding out how pre-ordering works out. I want to take advantage of a sale next week and don't want to clear the shelves. I have never had enough coupons to grab lots of a certain product before so this has never been an issue for me. I have no idea how to go about this. HELP! :-)

just go to the service desk and tell them you'd like to place a special order – each store probably is a little different about how they do it – shouldn't be a big deal at all!

haha – they might think that! my store doesn't make a big deal about it but maybe it's because they already know me… i usually just stress that i don't want to clear the shelf and that's why i want to place a special order.

Haha. My boyfriend and all my friends laugh at me… they tell me I am too young to be that crazy coupon lady… I respond that the more I save on couponing the more I have to spend on going out and having fun! Martinis arent cheap! LOL

i hope you had good luck pre-ordering…
i tried it for the first time not too long ago and i got like the 3rd degree on WHY i needed so many of each item… they asked me what i did for a living…. what i was going to do with all of them? i wanted 56 boxes of dryer sheets. the lady was like in shock!!
i told them i didn't want to take all of the one's on the shelf. even though its really none of their business.i told them i had a coupon for the item. then they called all sorts of people over, made a phone call to the general manager or corporate or something and questioned my coupon (and the sale hadn't even started yet!!!) they told me i'd be unable to use my coupons on what i was buying…. it was a very frustrating experience.
i ended up telling them i'd take my chances and go to several stores… which i did no problem.
i dont think i'll try to pre-order from THAT shaw's again anyway….
oh well. . .

You can call yor local stores and ask if they will let you and save yourself a trip.
if they say no just call another store.
Just curious how many of you pre order, how big are your orders, and what stores have you had luck with and what stores are saying no to you?
I already have a guess to the Shaws that acted like you were doing somethig wrong…

I have pre-ordered at Rite Aid with no problem – a "significant number" of bottles of Similac. The only issue in the end was that they didn't get in the number that I ordered prior to the coupons expiration date so I ended up using them elsewhere. The warehouse sent a specific number/portion of the order weekly over a period of time.
I have not pre-ordered at Stop & Shop but I have had the intention of doing so. They always talk me out of it because they usually are able to at the last minute just order enough extra to cover what I plan to purchase as well as making sure the shelves are stocked for everyone else. They are VERY open to special orders at my store but have learned that me asking for a special order means that others will want to get the product as well so their supplemental orders have seemed to meet the demand. They never ran out of grape jelly and I won't have to buy it again for years
I have tried to pre-order at Walgreens with no luck. I don't have much luck with anything I try to do at Walgreens though…

The only pre-ordering I have done so far was at Shaws… I bought the coupons for the Honest Tea and didnt want to clear the shelves of the flavors that I wanted so I asked the grocery manager. He was so wonderful… he asked me if I wanted more than the 40 bottles I asked for (2 different flavors) and told me that if I decided that I did want more to let him know and he would get another order in for me. I feel like I never have enough notice to order a big amount ahead of time because I am still fairly new to all of this. By the time I know what I want to buy it is usually almost the start of the sale week.

I feel lucky that I live in an area where getting to multiple stores wasn't too much of a problem.
The only time I felt frustrated trying to find them was when the Purex Crystals were on sale. I was down south I literally drove from MA to VA and back again hitting Rite Aids along the way. I must have hit like 20 of them only scoring like 10 all together.
I always find that hitting the store on Saturday (or Thursday for grocery stores) they are usually restocked and have plenty. I don't feel guilty about taking alot cause everyone had their share by then.
