Hello, My good friends new baby needs to use the formula NEOCATE. Anyone familar with it would know that it is very expensive. Her insurance will not cover any cost at all of this formula eventhough it is the only formula that will work for her. She has been told this by every doctor she has seen. They do not qualify for WIC or Masshealth or anything like that :( Does anyone have any advice on how she can get this for cheaper? coupons, advice , anything? we are desperate!! Did anyone else have any problems getting this covered by insurance? They are only going to cover it if she uses a feeding tube which is not neccessary. Also, we tried calling for samples and she was only able to get one because it was ok'd by her doctor. I tried to get a sample under my new babies name and they denied me because It was not medically neccessary. any advice..pleaseee? would be kindly appreciated! feel free to private message me as well!!
THANK YOU!

There is a lot of information about getting help/reimbursement at the Neocate website. Check it out here http://www.neocate.com/reimbursement/

I also googled 'Neocate coupons' and came up with a couple of sources for ca. 20% discount if you order online.

I was told the same thing by my son's doctor, that insurance was no longer covering the formula (a different brand but medically necessary). As a last resort I called the insurance company myself, and found that they DO cover it.
I never found out why she was misinformed, but maybe your friend's doctor is also mistaken. Tell her to go directly to her insurance company if she hasn't already. And make as much noise as possible and keep asking for the next higher-up supervisor, etc. There is usually an appeal process that you can try. A lot of those denial of services are done with the hope you will just give up and go away.
