I have been wondering the same thing myself!  I actually have a few gift cards that I've had for awhile for places that I don't frequent so out of curiosity I went on both Plastic Jungle and Cardpool just to see what I could possibly get for them. Here's what I've found out so far;

Plastic Jungle will only quote "you get up to X%" per gift card. This requires you to input the name of the store/restaurant the gift card is for and the amount. For example, I have a $40 gift card to Texas Roadhouse, Plastic Jungle said they would give me up to 68.25% ($27.30) of the value.

I  did the same thing on the Cardpool website and it quoted me $28.00.  I think it all depends on which cards are more in demand at the time you are looking to sell.

I wasn't actually thinking of buying gifts cardsthere until I went to the sites to see if what I had in my wallet already that could be turned into cash, but it does seem like a good idea.

I would love to hear about others' experience with this too!

you guys should check ebay – I have sold a few store credits/gift cards in the past for stores that I know I wouldn't use – depending on the store, you can usually get very close to the actual amount the gift card is worth – worth checking out – you can put a watch on an active listing to see how much it goes for, or search for completed listings to find out what recent listings sold for – both helpful for determining if its worth it to list on there or not.  You would be surprised how much people pay for high demand gift cards, such as Lowes, Walmart, Target, etc – I don't understand why some people would go to the trouble to pay almost 100 percent of their value, instead of just spending their own money at the store, but they do!!  Good for the sellers, but not much value for the buyers!!

I've used Plastic Jungle before. The best part of the site is that they now sell e-gift cards at discounts that they will instantly e-mail to you.

I had to buy a baby gift online off of a Buy Buy Baby registry. Before I bought the gift I went to Plastic Jungle bought an instant e-gift card at a 10% discount that they emailed to be right away and was able to use it on the purchase I made. Its the instant turnaround on the e-gift cards that makes the site worth while. So if your buying online its one added quick step to save some money.

I've also bought physical Starbucks cards and gas cards from them.
