Tonight went to get Bic Highlighters that are on sale for $1 and use the $1 Bic coupon.
Was told I cannot use mc coupons when an item is on sale for the same price as a coupon = free item.
Huh, since when did that happen?? The Mgr and Cashier wouldn't budge on this.
Mgr. proceeded to tell me, "that they do not get remimbursed for mc coupons; they are not like CVS or other stores that have a clearing house to process coupons to get reimbursed. They end up wripping them up, tossing them out. They won't take coupons for the same value as an items price." Also, there is no way for them to wring up the item, registers don't allow for it. (they throw out money that is due them
)
But will you take a $3 coupon on a $5 item, I asked, they said yes. (how do they get reimbursed for that)
This was at the Assembly Square Mall location in Somerville.
This happened a few months ago when I was just getting one item and I had forgot they told me that back then.
(Reminds me of the CVS ordeal I went thru last year when I was told they really don't like taking coupons on clearance items that give ECB's because I'm getting Free items …and almost wouldn't let me. Sure enough a few months later all their sales flyers now say no ECB on clearance items.)
What do you all think ?? bad training or true ?
