Jcpenney's is one of my favorite stores. I frequent their markdowns and loved their newspaper coupons, now it appears that due to the restructuring of their prices that those discount days are gone. You can google and find articles that explain it better but they are going for a "everyday fair price" type of thing. I personally am quite disappointed. I do not know how they think that this will keep them competitive; I only shop sales for clothing. So it appears now I will be shopping elsewhere (Kohls).

they are going to have their everyday pricing at 40% off what it used to be.  then the 1st and 3rd friday of every month they will have sales.  their reasoning for the 2x a month sales is b/c that is when most people get paid.  they had a lousy 4th quater so they want to be more competitive in their pricing.

I take it this is the meaning of their new commercial I keep seeing, which is pretty funny & something all of us on here are pretty familiar with – has anyone else seen it?  Where shoppers are totally frustrated when they realize that the great sale they wanted to take advantage of ended the day before??  LaughLaugh

I was wondering what the meaning of the commercial was – we don't have any JCPenneys close to me, but I grew up shopping there and know I can always find a great deal there when I shop there when visiting in my hometown (esp if I have a coupon!), so I agree, a bummer, don't know how they will be able to compete unless everyone else follows suit with this approach – which I know us couponers do not want!Wink

I went last night and scoped it out. Their clearance rack with "$2 and up" only had one thing that price (really ugly) and the rest was around $8-$16. Other racks had more straightforward prices but things did seem to be less of a bargain. I can't say that I am a fan of the new approach after checking it out.

i got an email this morning explaining the prices and i went on the site to see some of the deals.  the prices for their arizona brand for jeans were around $18 in the juniors dept which i think is a greast deal.  it is a month long price.  i checked out the toddler section and those prices seemed reasonable to me too.  since this week is the first friday of the month they should also be having their sale. so far i like the change.
