hi can somebody shed some light on this for me ? I had a coupon for $1.00 off 2 applesauces and market basket had them on sale for 3 for $1.00 and they only gave me credit for .68 and then they will get credit for the whole $ 1.00 . I just don't understand how that works?

Hi! Welcome!
Most stores do not give overage (Walmart does). Sometimes you'll get it but never count on it unless you're at Walmart where their policy allows it. The Musselman applesauce coupons adjust to the price of the item – 2 packages are less than $1 so the coupon adjusts down to that total.

The store gets reimbursed the face value of the coupon (unless they cross it out and out in the actual redeemed amount)
