Go to those store forums and follow the sales there.  Ask any store related questions there and shop the drugstores.

So even if I have one coupon for $1 off, then a seperate coupon for $0.50 off . and the sale is for $2.00. But the store has a .25 coupon, I can only use one coupon? I wouldn't be able to use all three if one coupon states 1 coupon per purchase? After looking at most of my coupons they say 1 coupon per purchase, so how do I get it down to little or nothing?Confused

One per purchase means you can use one for each one you are buying so you would be able to use as many coupons as you have as long as you buy one item for each coupon.  The way you get items for free is by watching the sales and pairing a coupon with the sale making the item free.  You can use one manu. coupon and one store coupon on one item.  if there is a buy one get one free you can use a buy one get one free coupon getting both free.

If something was on sale for $2 you can buy one for each coupon

$2

- $1/1 manu. coupon

- .25 store coupon

you would pay .75 for each one

Please do not post about fraudulently useing more than one coupon on an item.  That is illegal to do and we pride ourselves in teaching people how to shop for free legally.  If you only buy one item you can only use one $/1 coupon and some stores allow you to use a store coupon with it.  You can get plenty for free doing it legally.

OK, Now I understand better. I am still stockpiling all my coupons, and getting ready for the "first trip" with my new found hobby of coupon clipping. I'm bound determined to save on my shopping trips, especially since I am a mother of four! I'm so excited to become a smart shopper! Thank you again for the advice, and definitely want to make all my experiences legal ones. Sorry, I just wasn't sure about all the information I received. I am still a little overwhelmed, but have a lot more clarity on the coupon use!

Hello:

I saw something about this site the other day.  I have been interested in becoming a couponer for 2 years now and I have tried.  I can get through a professional schooll, but I can't seem to understand this.  So I gave up.  I was so impressed by what I saw about this the other day, as a new mother who is considering going part time, this is very important to me.  So I will need a lot of help to really understand how to do this.

Hi there!

I'm a newbie here and in the process of trying to figure all of this out! I'm a Mom of 2 and a Hospice Nurse who lives in MA. I work 40 hours a week but they are all concentrated into a 48 hour weekend, so I'm home during the week and have time to clip and spend hours in the grocery store if need be. After I saw Kathy on NECN I ordered Kathy's book and read it cover to cover in 1 night! (I've never been so riveted by a book with SO MUCH MATH! LOL!) So now I'm reading through again with a pen and notebook handy so I can really get the hang of this. I printed up a boat load of coupons today, but I realize I wont be saving tons of money for a while. My husband and I went over the budget last night so we know what our "Numbers to beat" are. I'm a little overwhelmed, but I know that will pass. So happy I watched the news that night! I never watch the news, but I saw the teaser and actually DVR'd it! Glad to be here!

Thanks Kathy! I have to tell you, I literally laughed out loud when I saw the 2 anchor women talking about your shopping trip right after the segment. The looks on their faces were absolutely priceless! Laugh(Parden the pun! LOL!) You could tell that they didn't believe it was possible at first. You really have given people a lot of hope in these tough times. I can't thank you enough! I'll be giving your book as Christmas presents this year to MANY of my girlfriends! Thank you again!

Hi all, another newbie here! Can't wait to start saving big bucks! We are a family of 3, on a very tight budget, and I started serious couponing this week after seeing the news story about Kathy shopping for free. I made the mistake of making my grocery list first (that was before I read one of Kathy's articles that told me otherwise), then looking for sales and matching coupons. I did save some money, but it was very time consuming that way, and I know I spent more than necessary. Next time I'll know better! (PS: I do have $5 in ECBs from CVS already. Gotta start somewhere, right? Wink)

Figured I'd swing over & say hello.  I am a mother of 6 littles (some not so little now).  Between my partner & I we have 9 children together, ages 18y-2.5y.  Savings & coupon clipping is something that I very much am looking forward to.  I have one question though…

What do you store your coupons in?  I have been looking found some UBER CUTE coupon holders for less than $15.00, they even attach to the shopping cart.  So wondering what others are using & why.

To begin, I used free items around the house, such as shoe boxes and old bill envelopes.  I went to Staples and bought a box of Manilla envelopes.  Most of my coupons are filed by week in a labeled manilla envelope.

The ones I receive in other ways, by printing, found at the store, from the coupon train, etc. live in one of two accordian check holders I bought at Staples.  But they are falling apart and I may return to a shoe box and envelopes.

Others use notebooks with baseball card holders.

I never clip coupons I file the inserts whole.  I write the date on the front of the insert in big numbers so it is easy to see quickly when I'm looking for them.  I only cut when I need the coupon saves a lot of time.  You can look up in the database to see when a coupon came out if you are looking for one.
