I'm new to all this and wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to organize loose coupons, peelies, etc. in an effective, easy-to-find way?  Any suggestions, comments welcome!

Thanks!

Very new newbie here.  We are a family of four and I am spending over $800 a month on groceries that includes all cleaning and other type products.  I am at a loss as to how we are spending that much money.  We only have three stores that I can use – HEB, Wal-Mart, and Brookshire Bros.  We live in a small town and have to drive 30 minutes to the store.  I also use a few coupons but most of the coupons are on stuff I wouldn't buy anyway.

I must say that I am in "awe" of how someone can get there grocery bill that low and have a stockpile also.  I don't have too much time to devote so I am just looking at cutting my bill in half or more.  I am working 10 hour days and drive an hour to and from work.  So long the weekend do I have time to do anything.

My biggest confusion is learning the store's coupon policies.  Any help?

Is there a weekly grocery coupon matchup page that compiles all the sales with the coupons needed to get the best deal? Or do I have to read each post individually?

Newbie here,

In the past year I have gone from a family of four to six (My parents moved in).  I have been sticker shocked at how much this has increased our food and toiletries bill as well as utilities.  In the current economy I really need to find ways to save money.

I have concerns about how time consuming this might be as I am caring for my father with Altzhiemer's and well as two children on the Autism spectrum, but we really do need a way to save money (plus I would *love* to have our family prepared for disaster as well).

Hoping to learn to coupon, I have had a few failed attempts in the past but I was not really organized.

Thanks!

Oh I wanted to add we have a CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Giant Eagle, and Walmart within shopping distance.

My family recently moved to Ohio and I am staying at home. I've decided shopping for free will be my new job! I started working the ECB's at CVS this past weekend. That was fun! I was going to check out Kathy's book from the library, but there is a huge wait list for it, so I am going to break down and buy it.

What I really like about this site is that everyone is very helpful AND ethical.

Buying the book is well worth it because you will want it to refer back to.

Hello all! I have used coupons most of my life but never to the extreme of getting hundreds of dollars worth of groceries for so little. I look forrward to learning the ropes and building a reasonable stockpile. I remember my mother with her shoebox full of coupons but we just checked to see if we had a coupon in the store and not neccessarily for items on sale.

My husband is NOT on board with this but then he doesn't understand the savings involved. I will be so happy to put a reciept in his hands and say "Look how much money I DIDN"T spend."

I'm still trying to figure out the best system for me. To clip or to file inserts? I just started to collect coupons on a large scale and most of the coupons I get are from the recycling bins so they are not always full inserts. As of right now I have been cliping but it is SOOOO time consuming and doesn't always work with a 7mo old.

What do you do with the expired coupons? I found a great site that give addresses for military bases that can use the expired coupons and have started sending them off. I would post the address but I'm not sure if I'm allowed. Can someone let me know if I can or if there is a better place to post the address?!

I am a stay at home mother of one, so far. I gather coupons from the Sunday paper I buy, family members, and the local recycling bins!

Megan :)

It depends on what the site is if it is a blog no or other coupon savings site.  You can post the addresses though.

I am very new to couponing.  I have been going through all the different sites out there.  This seems to be the most active and friendly.  I am enjoying reading the posts on all the savings.  I learned about how to save from coupons when I stood in line at my local Rite Aid.  This woman was checking out and had a cart full and over flowing. lol  She ended up paying $6.  WOW

I was in there often enough and asked my friend who works there about this.  She had no clue how this woman can save so much.  So when I started seeing the commercial for this I jumped on it.  I have no problems doing the extra work.  I have some questions but I'm going to  post in the propper rooms.

Thank you all for such a great site.  Laugh

Hi everyone! I'm very new to this site, I am also currently in the middle of reading Kathy's book. I have always loved using coupons…however there a few things I didn't know about so I'm psyched to someday be that woman standing with two carts full of groceries and pay $10. It's just me and my boyfriend, with our three fur babies who could eat us out of house 'n home.

I started small, and was very excited to get my first 'free' item over the weekend. I went into Rite Aid to purchase an AirWick plug-in oil warmer which the add had listed as on sale for .88cents. When the item rang up, it came up .99cents, I didn't gripe since my coupon was for $1.00 off one. The lady then told me I couldn't use the coupon since it was for more than the item was selling for.

In my most confident voice, I told her that didn't matter, that I should still be able to use the coupon. Eventually she gave it to me……but am I wrong? Is she wrong? I thought in reading the book there were items Kathy has been able to get for free because she had dollar coupons and used them on items on sale for less than that. Maybe I am entirely confused.

Thanks for any help!

What plug in warmer are you talking about that is on sale for .88?

The coupon should have been adjusted to the price of the item.

Hi everyone. Very new here. Been at it for two weeks and have gotten some freebies, which was a great feeling.  I'm feeling very overwhelmed though and at times discouraged.  Seems like I'm spending so much time studying flyers.  Is it really possible to get to a point where I'll have a small stock pile of free items?  I'm going to stick with this because I'm reading so many success stories.  You're all so impressive!

It does take time but the time is worth it.  It takes a lot of time for the people that find the deals and post them not so much for the people that just take the information found and use it.  It just depends on how much time you want to put in.
