My husband wanted a truck to go to the dump or bring those things home that just wouldn’t fit in a car. The company that he works for gives employees the option of buying their trucks for $1000 when they are ready to retire them. You have to put your name on a list and wait for your turn to come. They keep them in tip top mechanic shape so we felt confident to buy one of these trucks. Well when my husband called and said he was the lucky one this time his name came up and he wanted to buy it. I said ok we’ll use my rebate money. He said what are you talking about. I then told him that I had 1109.33 in a seperate bank account with all of the rebate money that I have received this year. He thought I was crazy until I showed him the bank account. I wrote him out one of those starter checks for $1000.00 and now my rebate account has 109.33 in it but he has his 2006 truck and it didn’t cost me anything. The manufactures paid for his truck with the rebates from items I got free or made money buying to begin with. That is why I love rebates and love to turn my coupons into cash my favorite saying! Now that my husband knows about my account he wants me to save for a motorcycle!

I started couponing about 2 years ago it all happened by accident. I was in the grocery store with my full cart and ended up in a line with a lady that had an overflowing cart full of groceries. There was a person in between us so I never really say what she looked like. When they were done ringing up her groceries she passed them a huge stack of coupons. They scanned and scanned the coupons and I stood there in awe when I saw her hundreds of dollars of groceries dropped to under $25. My thought was wow how did she do that. When it was my turn to pay I talked to the cashier about how awesome that was and she told me the lady said she belongs to a coupon site. The cashier then gave me the site name that she had just been given along with the ladies first name. I immediately came home went to the site that was back when it was on yahoo and signed up. One of the questions was who referred you. I wrote it was a lady in front of me in the grocery line named April. I can remember waiting anxiously thinking I hope they let me join! Now I realize how foolish that fear was and laugh about it. I asked so many questions when I was learning I don’t know Kathy and the other members that helped me learn had the patience to answer them all. I was a person that never used a coupon and spent at lest $200 a week on groceries buying just what I had to have for the week. Now I spend about $25 a week and have tons of stuff to give away. I love going to my mailbox everyday to see what is in it that day for a rebate.
Thank you Kathy for your love of teaching people how to shop for free.
What a great surprise! I think that I have to start an account of rebates and work hard at doing them. Ihave done about 3 so far but nothing totaling even close to 100.00. Great Job Cardinal and congrats to you & your husband for your luck . What a great summer gift!
I too have just started coupons in the last year adn its because of this group that I finally wrapped my head around this great savings game! Now I can’t go shopping without coupns and I am amazed everyday how much I have saved so far since Jan 2010 I have a saving on CVS of 1500.00 wich is beyond me because I would have bought most of this stuff anyways in less quanities! I never worry about personal items I have a “bunker” as my nieghbor says. I have been able to teach friends and family this game and love seeign their face when somethign finally clicks!
Congrats & Thank you!
This is SO awesome!!! You have me inspired to start another account just for my rebate money. It is already “gone” so to speak and now I can maybe save up to the side for when that day comes that my car dies!!! This is SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are so glad that you are here, you help all of us a ton. I agree if it wasn’t for Kathy, I wouldn’t be able to feed my family!!!
THANK YOU EVERYONE who participates. We don’t want to forget the people who even just post one time!! Heck that may be the deal that someone was looking for!!!
What a great thing to do with all those rebates! That’s really an awesome way to save up money for any big purchase you want to plan for: vacation, TRUCK, new furniture, etc. Plus, those big purchases will be guilt-free because it’s technically FREE money being spent. Maybe next time that account stacks up you can buy something for yourself – you deserve it!
