I found some old footage of me from about 7 years ago. Watching it has empowered me to want to find more ways to help people and teach them to help themselves. Over the years what started as a hobby quickly turned into something else. My original hope of being able to afford the luxury of being a stay at home mom via coupons whirlwinded into something bigger than I ever imagined. Not only did coupons provide my family with everything we needed (even free beer and wine) it turned into a career. My couponing skills got me a book deal, made me internet famous with over 4 million views on the Good Morning America video and allowed me to be able to offer work to the amazing team at HTSFF.
To say coupons changed my life is really an understatement. Never in a million years would I have expected all of these amazing things to happen to me, a girl that grew up in a low income family from Chelsea, MA. Looking back on this video I remember how nervous I was back pre -HTSFF. Worrying about putting food on the table is something no one in America should ever have to every worry about.
What will you do today to help someone else? Next time you go to the store to do a haul of free or nearly free deals, I challenge you to take half of it and find someone in your community that is struggling and give it to them. Look for a single parent, a senior or a family that just can’t catch a break. Wait and see how doing this makes you feel and changes your life as well as theirs. Make a difference and experience the new kind of high you get when you pay it forward.
Coupons can change your life if you let them. Do the work, take the steps, empower yourself and pay it forward.
