Conair Hair Dryer Fire Hazard Class Action Lawsuit
“A court has certified a class action lawsuit that alleges certain Conair hair dryers have a design defect that poses a dangerous fire hazard. If you purchased a 259 or 279 Infiniti Pro 1875-watt hair dryer sold by Conair since Aug. 15, 2009, your rights may be affected by this class action lawsuit.
The Conair class action lawsuit alleges the 259 and 279 Infiniti Pro 1875-watt hair dryers sold by Conair contain defective heating coils and electrical cords that can cause the hair dryers to fail. The plaintiffs allege the hair dryers have the following defects: (1) a motor that shakes excessively, causing the coils to short circuit or, in some cases, shoot coils or flames from the barrel, and (2) and electrical cord that is too short and stiff so that, when it is bent, the cord can break wires and electrical insulation, potentially causing electrical shock and fire.”
