My goal in life is to find a way to have everything I want for as little as possible. So when Virgin Mobile sent me an invite to join their Inner Circle plan with unlimited talk and text for $1.00 a YEAR I knew it was worth looking into.
What was the catch? In order to get a year of cell phone service for $1.00/ 8 cents a month you had to purchase an Iphone from them. As fate would have it I was in the market for a new phone and was planning on treating myself to an Iphone 6 anyway so the timing was perfect. Unlike other companies that claim to have special offers, Virgin Mobile had the Iphone 6 for $319.00. So when you add the cost of the brand new cell phone and the $1.00 for the year of unlimited service my total is $320.00. That comes out to $26.66. per month. For that price I was more than happy to hear my son shattered his cell phone for the umpteenth time because I was able to buy him a new Iphone and a year of service for less than what we were paying for his current plan and he got a brand new phone.
Currently Virgin Mobile if offering a different version of this plan. It is now buy an Iphone and get 6 monthsof unlimited service for $1.00 per month. Not as good as the deal I got but if you do the math and break this deal down here’s how it works out.
You can select any type of Iphone you like but for comparison sake I will use the Iphone 6 in this scenario.
The Iphone 6 is $319.00.
You will get 6 months of unlmited sevice for $1.00 for 6 months = $6.00
After that it’s $50.00 per month.
So in total 1 year of everything including the phone costs $625.00. Divide that by 12 and it is now $52.08 per month. Not the best deal but you need to remember that this includes and Iphone, so keep that in mind when comparing to other plans. When I got in on the deal it was only $320.00. Unfortunately you missed out on that but this is still a good deal. If you are looking at plans that are $50.00 per month this will trump them because you will have a phone included for the same price. Basically a free Iphone for switching providers and there are no contracts so its a win win for anyone that is currently paying $50.00 or more with their current provider.
If you are like my husband and have no use for a smart phone then PureTalk phones via Sears plans may be what you are looking for. I have Brian locked into a plan is just $5.oo per month that provides him with 80 minutes of use per month. They recently changed his and is now avaiable for just seniors.
If you are looking for a family plan and have 5 or more members Cricket is most likely going to give you the best bang for your buck as the per line drops with each additional line. The basic plan starts at $40.00 per month for the first line but if you have 5 lines it will cost you $130.00 per month for all of them. That averages out to $26.00 per person. This is a great deal and they provide great coverage but in order for this deal to be worth your wild you will want to max out the family plan offer. If your family s in need of new phones Virgin Mobile may be the better option.
For know I will stick with my 8 cents per month phone bill and see what they have for deals when my time is up!
