How to make your Stop & Shop savings stretch and give you things you’d never thought you’d have
If you’re a regular follower of our Stop & Shop Freebies Facebook Page
You’ve seen my bi-weekly posts of my “renovations”
I am a true believer you can save everywhere, and the picture above can prove it.
I was DYING for a place of my own, I live in a little tiny “village” (that’s what the locals call it) of house ontop of house ontop of house.
No-one really has their own individual space, and everyone is sort of ontop of each other, to put it nicely.
Almost 99% of you don’t know me, I may be vocal on the internet, but I love my privacy. I don’t want to see anyone, I don’t want to talk to anyone, I just want to relax when I can, because my life is SO BUSY. (call me the miserable homebody old lady that lives in the shoe, or something like that LOL.
When I moved into my new house in December, I was thrown off because I didn’t have a yard. I had the neighborhood kids, in my “space” ,
and I knew that I’d never have the money to enclose myself from the world until I saw a post from Kathy about discounted Lowes Giftcards, you can see a similar post here
$90.00 for $100 gift cards!
So if my fence cost $1000.00, I’d only pay $900.00 AWESOME!
BUT then a lightbulb went off! If I can save that way, there must be MORE WAYS TO SAVE!
And there was.
After seeing this post about the giftcards I remembered I received a 10% Lowes Coupon valid on any online or in-store purchase
(you can get these from the post office, when you ask for a change of address packet, hint : you don’t have to move to get one of these)
Then I started “googling” Lowes Online Promotions/Gift Cards/Coupons etc
I came across Rebate App. Topcash Back
Searching Lowes in the search bar, it came up that this app was offering a 6% cash back offer for Lowes!
What’s awesome about sites like TopCash Back, is it costs nothing to use them, you just search your store, make and online purchase and get a pre-specified amount back (can take up to 3 weeks).
So there it was…I had a plan, I was going to stack all these offers and get my fence for a fraction of my $1000.00 budget, whatever was left over I would use for stuff for my new yard, oasis.
So let me walk you through this.
I did all the math first BEFORE I made any sort of commitment with giftcards, rebate apps etc.
(note :: this is my breakdown and your results may not be the same)
I Priced out
(17) 8×6 fence panels at $29.99 each = $509.83
(17) 4x4x10 fence posts at $8.88 each = $150.96
I factored in my coupon from my change of address pack – 10%
I factored in the 6% cash back from Topcash Back
and then I factored how many giftcards I’d need
(the topcashback wouldnt hit right away so i needed to cover what that would cost, and then get money back)
So I knew I’d need (6) $100.00 giftcards at $90.00 each
BUT WAIT, These giftcards were through ebay! And do you know what rebate app offers 3% back on any Ebay purchase?
SO here I go again! I use Ebates , search Ebay and find my giftcards.
I paid $540.00 out of pocket
and got 3% BACK
(another $16.20 savings)
TOTAL SAVINGS AND BREAKDOWN
