How to Remove Permanent Marker from just about Everything

I’ll never forget the panic in my sisters voice when she called me desperately looking for an answer to how she could remove Sharpie from leather.  She was house sitting for her best friend when she went into the kitchen to make supper and her son (a toddler at the time)  got hold of a Sharpie and before she knew it he had scribbled all over her friends brand new leather couch.  The first bit of advice I gave her is the same advice I will give you. Before you do anything at all check to see if you have a product warranty for accidental spills and damage. If you do call teh company first. Do not try any of the following remedies first because if they don’t work you may void your warranty protection plan.  If you don’t have a protection plan than you may want to try a few of these solutions below.

• Glass – Nail Polish Remover
• Clothing- Hand Sanitizer
• Wood -Rubbing Alcohol
• Plastic- Clearasil Pimple Cream
• Walls-  Hairspray
• Leather- Distilled White Vinegar
• Dry Erase Board-  Draw over the permanent marker with a dry erase marker and wipe away with a paper towel

 

Be sure to always test a small spot first to assure it won’t make things worse. But chances are if you are dealing with  permanent marker on a surface that shouldn’t have permanent marker it already is a worse case scenario
