It may be a pandemic but we all still need groceries. Here are some tips on how to wipe down your groceries properly after purchasing them at the store. Keep in mind it is unlikely you will get the virus from packages but we know the virus can stay on steel and plastic for up to 3 days. We also know they can live on cardboard for up to 24 hours. These tips will help keep us safe at home.
Here are step by step tips on how to clean your groceries:
Step 1: Put on some gloves. You do not NEED to have to wear gloves to clean your grocery items, however, this is a smart idea keep yourself safer while handling items that MAY be contaminated. If you do NOT have gloves you may skip this step, but, be sure to clean your hands RIGHT away when you come in from shopping AND after you are done cleaning all of your grocery items.
Step 2: Make a dirty area and clean area on a washable counter top surface. You can use tape or something in your household to separate the areas from each other.
Step 3: Grab some disinfecting wipes to wipe down each item. You do not need a specific kind of wipe, ANY household cleaner will do. If you do NOT have any wipes on hand, use paper towel to make some. (DYI info HERE)
Step 4: Wipe each grocery item down over the dirty area on your counter top.
