There are TONS of things you can do with your kiddos this summer for free. Painting with ice cubes is one of many options that is sure to keep them busy and happy. Given that today is going to be a hot one, it’s the perfect day for ice cube paints but get them in your freezer now! Your little ones will love this outdoor activity and you will love that it’s free (providing you have some old food coloring in the cabinet) and involves minimal preparation and cleanup!
Just mix 2 or 3 drops of food coloring with water in an ice cube tray and add some Popsicle sticks (no need to even stand them up straight) and freeze. When they are frozen, they are ready for painting! We paint plain paper, rocks, shells, tree stumps, or pretty much just whatever we can find that is appropriate for painting. My experience is that everything washes off.
If you use washable paints in place of the food coloring you’ll eliminate the staining concern but we haven’t had a problem with staining thus far. Just have them wear their birthday suit and you’re good to go!
