Governor Baker just announced that all Massachusetts schools and non-emergency daycare programs will remain closed until May 4th due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Schools were originally supposed to reopen on April 6th.
Here’s a direct quote from the Governor via CBS – “This will provide school districts to provide the best possible opportunities for remote learning for all students,” Baker said. “This is not an extended school vacation. During this long-term closure the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will work with school districts to further develop educational programming students can use at home. This way schools can plan for the return of students in May.”
With schools being closed longer, school administrations will have to be creative in how they offer learning to students. Some school work can be done virtually, but not all students may have access to the internet, and they will not be punished for not having that resource.
Check with your local school district for more details.
