HTSFF Team Member: April
My coupon journey started back in 2007, when I met Kathy on an online group. I would follower her post, but I will never forget the day Kathy said, “does anyone want to learn how to shop for FREE?” Well that is all it took! I am honored to say I have been a part of HTSFF since day one. My family is an amazing blended family of 6. How to Shop for FREE has helped me live on a very tight budget. I was always “frugal” as my grandma would say, but I never knew how much coupons could change my life. Anyone can do this! I am so thankful that fate put Kathy and I together. Kathy has changed my life in more ways than coupons and saving money, she is one of my best friends (sorry Kathy you’re stuck with me)! Even our dogs are besties! Join us in the forums and the Facebook groups, share your deals and ask questions! Come and save money with us!
Where you can expect to see April posting: Target forums & FB Group, Market Basket and FB group, Shaw’s and Stop & Shop as well as teaching classes for How to Shop for Free!

Hey, y’all.. Ashley here : ) To tell you just a little about myself, I’m an overly-caffeinated 29 year old, and I live in Rhode Island with my long-term boyfriend (AKA “hubs” as I so lovingly refer to him in posts) and our furbaby cat Posey Penelope.
I’m a lifelong budgeter, thanks to a mom who raised me as a frugal person who always looks for the best bang for my buck! I’m thankful for all those lessons now, because look at where it got me! I’ve been couponing about 6 years now, and have been blogging for HTSFF for a year.. and let me say it has been bliss! Not only is finding the deals and free samples something I loved doing prior to blogging for the site, but interacting with the awesome people and being able to teach them something is far more satisfying. And if you see some fanciful graphics around the site, those are probably my doing.. thankfully that other love of mine has been a way I can contribute my creativity to HTSFF.
I also have a love of puns, life hacks, cooking and writing recipes of my own.. especially using my stockpile, markdown items and re-using things like leftovers or things some people discard! So be sure to keep an eye out for my recipe and life hacks posts, filled with ridiculous jokes – LOL.
If you can’t find me, you can probably find me lurking in my Friendly Couponistas group.. come poke me if you need something, I’m always happy to help!

HTSFF Team Member: Cardinal (or as I like to call her “Bird”)
You can find Bird flying around the drugstore forums, in the Stop & Shop FB group as well as on the front page.
Cardinal is one of our original mods, she joined the group back in 2008. She found us after being behind April in line at Shaw’s and was so impressed with April’s savings she asked how she did it and April directed her to us. In no time at all Cardinal quickly became our Top Mod, my right arm and the Queen of all things Rebates! Ask her how she got her husband a FREE motorcycle by using rebates! Bird was our top poster for many years and that all changed a little over a year ago when she was blessed with two beautiful grandsons that now take up a majority of her time. She still pops in whenever she has a spare moment to post and is also become one of my closest friends over the years. She still won’t let me post her picture but I can confirm .. she really does exist!

Hi. I am Carol Beane (aka cabeane). I have been posting deals for HTSFF since 2011. I have pretty much couponed my whole life. I grew up pretty poor and this was a way of life for us.
I have a full time job, two teenage boys, a husband, a dog and two cats. I coupon to feed my two giants! If I didn’t I would be broke!
Couponing and blogging are hobbies of mine. I coupon and blog as a way to decompress from my highly stressful job in financial services.. (it’s too bad couponing can’t be my full time job!)
I am a self-proclaimed Stop & Shop, CVS, Shaw’s and Roche Bros expert. I know other stores as well, but these are the stores I frequent. I love helping people get the best deals and love seeing their hauls. If you have any question, feel free to ask. No question is silly.

When I was in high school, my mom came home with probably $70 worth of items at CVS and had the family guess how much she spent. My siblings and I guessed around $20, and were floored when she said her total was only $8. She had always used coupons and been frugal, but I remember this as the day our lives totally changed – I think this was the day that How to Shop for Free was truly born, even if the website wasn’t created until a couple years later.
I’ve always admired my mom for saving so much with coupons, but I never really got into doing the deals myself until I moved into my first apartment, and couldn’t easily dip into her stockpile Since then, I’ve become a full fledged couponer – I even had to buy my own freezer recently because the number of awesome deals outweighed the amount of space in my freezer! I live within half a mile of a Stop & Shop, Shaws, 2 CVS’s, Market Basket, Target, Walmart, and more, so I can easily do small trips here and there as deals are discovered – although you will most often find me roaming the aisles of Stop & Shop, collecting gas points, snapping pics and crunching numbers before I run back home to post the deals!
I’m all about bringing new tech into the couponing world – the more apps, the better! I love “going paperless” to the store, with just my phone and a slew of rebate apps to snag deals – if you saw how disorganized I am, you’d understand why I prefer apps to paper coupons!
Outside of How to Shop for Free, I am a self-titled Stay at Home Girlfriend. In December of 2016, I left my full-time, stable-paycheck job to pursue a more unconventional path. I write articles for HTSFF, run my own blog at sahgirlfriend.com, do user interface testing, and even dog walking/pet sitting. I have never been one for mundane routines, and like to shake things up – every day is a new adventure in my life.

My name is Juniette and I am one of your How To Shop For Free mods. I am an (almost) 30 year old with a beautiful (almost) 2 year old and a wonderful (almost) perfect husband. Couponing has become a lifestyle more than a hobby and here’s why: I started couponing about 2.5 years ago when I became pregnant with our little man. Like many, I tried couponing for the first time and I failed miserably! I’m pretty sure I came home and cried because I planned too big and saved too little…I sat down, put my head to it, and tried again. The math and planning had me hooked in no time. Couponing helped me keep busy, sane, and adjust to the changes that came with being a new stay at home mommy. It helped our family afford the payments on our new home. It also helped me pay it forward to those around us that needed “a leg up” more than we did. It went slowly at first and I started with a 20% savings and built up to 50%…75%…till finally I came home with 100% savings. It was an incredible “high” and awesome achievement. I haven’t looked back ever since. Flash forward to now! Frugal living is contagious and we, in the How to Shop for Free family, are here to spread that contagion and hunt down as many awesome deals for you guys as possible!

I’m passionate about family, community, adventure and keepin’ it real! I love saving money for my growing family. Being able to save money on food, household items and other merchandise allows my family and I to do the things we love. On top of searching and sharing deals, I work full time in travel technology. I love to travel, Saint Lucia & Key West are two of my favorite places to visit. You’ll mostly find me in Wegmans, Stop & Shop and CVS. I love seeing everyone’s deals and happy to answer any questions anyone has!

You can find Marie mostly in the Rite Aid, Shaw’s and Market Basket Forums but she’s bound to turn up almost anywhere! You can also find lots of tips and tricks in her Couponing 101 Series.
Hey there! My name is Marie I have been part of the How to Shop for Free Community since February 2011. I grew up in Gloucester, MA (and currently live in Ossipee, NH) with parents that taught me the value of money and how important it was to stretch it for all it’s worth. In that respect, I have always been a sale shopper and couponer. I have been doing my version of “extreme couponing” since 2009. In early 2011 a friend posted Kathy’s NECN appearance on a social media site and it piqued my interest. I watched the video clip and immediately headed over to the website. What separated Kathy and How to Shop for Free from some of the other sites I had seen was the fact that the forums were very interactive and I really felt like I was part of this community as I began posting deals and questions. I love that it is a “safe” place for Newbies. The other thing that I love about How to Shop for Free is the philosophy of paying it forward. As a Moderator on the site and in my real life I live by that philosophy. You never know what your small gesture of kindness can mean to someone and the impact it can have on their life.
You can find me in the aisles of Shaw’s, Market Basket and Rite Aid most of the time. My favorite store to shop at is Rite Aid but I love CVS as well and am well versed in their rewards programs and policies. I do shop at other stores and am always happy to answer questions about the other stores. My only couponing regret is that I don’t live close enough to Stop and Shop to take advantage of the gas points deals on a regular basis 🙂
I love breaking down the deals, answering your questions and seeing photos of your brags. Please don’t be afraid to ask questions because that is how we learn. I’m sure if you’re thinking it someone else is as well.

And then there is me..
I originally started How to Shop for Free on Yahoo to share deals with my friends and family. It quickly took on a life of it’s own and spiraled into a national website, book and PBS Special. I could not have done any of it without all the support and help from my team as well as all of you loyal How to Shop for Free followers. Thank You!!
