You have probably seen the TikTok app in the news recently for privacy concerns. Right now, there is a class action settlement against TikTok, Inc., the company behind TikTok, and they have agreed to pay $1.1 million to resolve claims that the app collected children’s personal information without parental consent.
Do you have a child, under the age of 13, who has registered for or used TikTok, or its predecessory Musical.ly? If so, you and your child benefit from this claim. According to this settlement, the app collected information from minors in violation of the Children Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The information collected included email address, phone numbers, and full names.
Potential Award: $10 or $15 but varies based on number of claims filed.
The deadline to file your claim is April 16, 2020.
