If you have been to Shaw’s in Seabrook you know that things are changing. But what are they up to is the question.
Here is the 411 :
Shaw’s has decided to step it up and get competitive. With two Market Basket Stores a Dollar Tree in the neighborhood and a Walmart that has now become the most coupon friendly store around in the same parking lot they they are feeling the burn. Instead of accepting the defeat they have fought back to what todays consumer is asking for and that is better deals. When you walk into the Seabrook store you will now notice that the right side where the florist department used to be is now a dollar spot full of great affordable bargains. Talk about a great way to welcome you into the store. Before peoples opinion of Shaws was overpriced items now that has all changed your first impression now is I can afford to shop here. There is a mix of no names and brand names in the dollar section . I am especially happy top see dollar deals on spices and extracts. They have a big bin of Bounty Basics paper towels for $1.00, free if you have the $1.00 coupon. The savings don’t stop there as you proceed to the produce department you will see a nice change as well. There are all sorts of produce bins with great savings strategically set as eye candy. Whole pineapples for $1.99 caught my eye. I especially like the new feel in the produce department it has a feel of a farmers market , more homey and friendly.
My favorite finds have been at the back of the store in the reduced frozen cases. Now these deals may just be there to clear out things while they redesign the store but the deals are amazing. Here is what I found for $1.00: Mystic Pizzas, Friendly’s Jubilee rolls , half gallons of Breyers, Rays New York bagels, Vegan frozen foods, Organics etc. all the items were at $1.00 and under. Who doesn’t love grabbing dollar deals. I really hope they continue this frozen happy place.
So what’s with all the rumors of name changes? From what I have been told the name will stay the same for the time being. The difference between this Shaw’s and other Shaw stores is that the Seabrook store will now have it’s own sale ad and have lower prices than the rest of the chain. Is Seabrook a guinea pig test store, will other Shaw’s stores follow suit with this new pocketbook friendly pricing? Time will tell. For now I am giving the new and improved Shaw’s (outlet? ) a thumbs up!
If you go this is the perfect store to have a coupon binder with you. I know, I always say binders are dorky and don’t cut until you need to but if this Shaw’s outlet style store continues the amazing clear out prices you may see me carrying a binder. Actually no I won’t ..I will just bring one of my dorky friends with me that carries one! : )
