How To Have a Free Christmas (or Close to it!)
Handwrite some letters!
It’s rare that people send heartfelt and hadnwritten letters anymore. Send out a few letters this Christmas at no cost (except for stamps if you don’t have any on hand) to you except some kindness!
Send a Christmas newsletter.
Don’t have money for Christmas pictures this year? That’s okay! These days, it’s becoming more and more common to send family holiday updates like that via email. The picture and update will be appreciated either way!
Gaze at Christmas lights.
The best thing about having a free Christmas is that there is still tons of stuff to enjoy for free. One of our favorites is Christmas lights! Most towns have a dedicated neighborhood that sets up Christmas lights every year. If not, just drive through your town until you spot some!
Bake instead of buying gifts!
If you have a few staples in your kitchen, you can easily replace gift shopping with baking this year! Overall, it is much cheaper, and since you can make things in batches, you can make multiple gifts for each batch!
Crochet or knit.
If you crochet or knit, you likely have some unused yarn on hand! To make this a totally free Christmas, create gifts out of yarn and resources you already have!
Note: If you don’t already know how to crochet or knit, there are tons of great (free) tutorials on YouTube to teach you!
Conserve electricity.
Rather than decorating with lots of lights that will cost money to keep on, decorate with ribbons, ornaments, tinsel, etc. to save a little on your electric bill! You could also ultimately decide to forego all the decorations to make it a free Christmas (especially if you don’t have any decorations already).
