Dollar General Penny Policy
If you’ve spent any time looking through our Dollar General Posts at How to Shop for FREE or in our Dollar General FREEBIES and Deals Facebook Page then you are probably familiar with Penny Items (if not, you can learn about penny shopping HERE) and have seen Member Brags about their Penny Hauls.
Now that you’ve done your research and you’re ready to go on your first hunt for Penny Items you may still be wondering, is the store really going to sell me these items for a penny if I find them? The answer to that question is YES (the only exception would be expired food or medicine items. The store has the right to refuse to sell expired goods.). The store actually has a written policy as to how employees are supposed to handle the sale of these items.
We’ve provided a copy of the employee policy and procedure for your reference:
REMINDER
- NEVER call the store and ask if they have the item scanning for a penny
- Never ask cashier to price check to see if it’s a penny
- Penny items are items that employees were supposed to pull from the shelf before they dropped to 1 penny so they are not going to help you get them for 1 penny. You need to know what is going to be a penny and then purchase it.
- Always be polite and courteous to your cashiers and don’t make a mess of the store looking for Penny Items
